Hi,
first as for the images, the trick is to upload them via ftp to your media/import folder and add them in the corresponding column in your csv in the following format: “/yourimage.jpg” It should work this way.
As for the whole import to Magento, I can advise File2Cart: http://www.file2cart.com/supported-carts/55-magento It does import of products, categories and images and maybe some other data. I use it for bulk imports as it speeds up all the process immensely.

I’m using store manager for magento to import products – very sophisticated application, allows to import products from custom .csv files. It’s not free though but works for me well.

Thanks! This is a great, simple method to keep that test site out of the SERP’s. Here is another that I used that actually takes the site off the public Internet entirely (though as you mentioned you were doing work for clients, I can understand how this method is ideal for many as well):

Hello there will. i have just come across the same problem. cannot find where the exported file has been saved after i have exported all the products.

Can you let me know if you managed to sort this and how?
