first as for the images, the trick is to upload them via ftp to your media/import folder and add them in the corresponding column in your csv in the following format: &quot;/yourimage.jpg&quot; It should work this way.
As for the whole import to Magento, I can advise File2Cart: http://www.file2cart.com/supported-carts/55-magento It does import of products, categories and images and maybe some other data. I use it for bulk imports as it speeds up all the process immensely.
