Beginners Guide to SEO

Apparently to appease the numerous requests at conferences, Google has helpfully released their internal guide to SEO for everyone to download. In the past we have worked from guidelines established from trial and error and thankfully to everyone in the SEO industry this confirms pretty much what we took as gospel.

This document first began as an effort to help teams within Google, but we thought it’d be just as useful to webmasters that are new to the topic of search engine optimization and wish to improve their sites’ interaction with both users and search engines.

Its pretty basic in fact but is a very good primer for people who are trying to understand the concept for the first time. Here’s a direct link to the Google SEO Guide.

  1. Dave Richards says:

Ha, yeah I saw this the other day. Its about time they started acknowledging seo as a legitimate business I think.

  2. Thanks very much for the link. I shall download and digest!

  3. Just had a quick look, I can’t beleive Google are releasing this after all this time.

  4. Thank you for the beginner’s guide. I have been listening to some podcasts on SEO, and they take for granted that you already know the terms (jargon) they use.

The reason I’m interested in SEO is because we are releasing a new on-demand load testing solution to beta this month. Our value proposition is: Easy and Inexpensive. We use a cloud infrastructure to get massive scalability with almost no overhead.

So any suggestions regarding getting out the word to web developers would be greatly appreciated. If you know of anyone wanting a free beta account, please have them check out for the sign-up form or contact me at

    Thanks again,
    Scott Price
